A VALUABLE LESSON THE MUSIC INDUSTRY TAUGHT ME...
Despite what most people think, there is no better time in history than now to be a musical artist. It just takes a different perspective to see just how the music industry has evolved.
Back in the day...
Well, back in the day was definitely different in a lot of ways. If you had the talent then superstardom was way more attainable. But is that because talent was that rare, or was there a lot more money in the game?
Money is always king.
Let me explain from my point of view what I think the differences are and how we can learn from the mistakes both the labels and artists have made in the past...
I think you might find there's hope musicians, artists, and future labels to come after all...

It's appearing more and more obvious you just can't be a guitar player, drummer, etc., anymore and have that be your profession. Today's definition of a 'musician' is much different than it was a decade ago. "The times change, and if you don't change with them, you get left behind" couldn't be more of what's happening today. You also need to learn how to use a DAW, OBS, mix, use/work a camera(s), lighting, video edit, create content on the regular to keep followers engaged, so on and so on, on top of honing your skills as a guitarist, drummer etc. It is what it is, like it or not.
